 ELA instructional time focuses on literature, phonics, listening, speaking and writing. We use programs such as Heggerty, Wit & Wisdom, and Fundations.

Math instructional time focuses on the following:

Recognizing numbers

Counting in sequence to 100

Counting to identify the number of objects

Comparing numbers

Understanding addition as putting together and adding to

Understanding subtraction as taking apart and taking from.

Adding and subtracting within 10

Working with numbers 11-19 to gain foundations for place value

Describing and comparing measurable attributes

Classifying objects and counting the number of objects in each category

Identifying, describing, comparing, creating, and composing shapes

Religion Christ Our Life

Religion instructional time focuses on Prayer, Service, and the Liturgical Year. The students will also explore God's love as they are introduced to God`s goodness through words, actions, feelings, people, places, and things. Each chapter that we focus on will highlight one special aspect of God`s goodness! 

Social Studies Impact Social Studies: Published by Mc-Graw Hill Education

Social Studies instructional time focuses on utilizing geographic tools, such as globes and maps, in order to investigate characteristics of places and regions. We also focus on the study of cultural characteristics in order to determine how people in Maryland, the United States, and the world are alike and different. The students also learn to apply an economic lens to begin to understand the roles of producers and consumers within the economy. They will apply historical thinking skills to understand how individuals and events have changed society over time. Lastly, the students will learn how to be good citizens.

Science Science Dimensions: Published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Science instructional time focuses on the following:

Identifying the differences between a push or a pull

Investigating the effect of sunlight on different Earth materials (sand, rocks, water, etc.)

Recognizing that weather conditions change frequently, and that weather patterns change over the seasons

Describing and comparing weather using observations and measurements of local weather

conditions

Reviewing the four seasons and the general weather patterns in their geographic area

Identifying that animals need food and water, and plants need water and light to survive.

Investigating the relationships between living things and their environments

Connecting the impact of human actions on our environment

Describing actions that can help the environment, such as recycling and proper disposal of waste materials

Recognizing that some jobs/careers require knowledge and use of life science content and/or skills
