CANTEEN VOLUNTEERING - CALL FOR HELPERS
Help Keep Our Canteen Running— Please Join Us!
The Canteen is proudly run by the P&F and depends on parent volunteers to support our dedicated paid staff in serving the boys. If you’ve volunteered before, you know firsthand how rewarding and appreciated your contribution is.
We warmly invite all parents to sign up for a shift for this term. It’s a simple way to support the School community - and the boys love seeing familiar faces behind the counter!
As a parent volunteer, you'll work alongside canteen staff and serve the boys during busy recess periods, 10.20-11.20am. No kitchen or cooking experience required. Click here for the Volunteer Sign Up Form to sign up for a 1-hour shift any day(s) during school term. Any questions about canteen volunteering, contact Jeff Brown @ 0400 410 737.
As a matter of compliance, school volunteers must complete the Volunteer Form below, and have a current NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC)

School Uniform
Our boys will be in Formal Uniform 2 days a week most weeks and the other 3 days will be in Sports Uniform.
Uniform for most weeks:
Monday - Formal Uniform (Blazers are not compulsory in Terms 4 and 1)
Tuesday - Sports Uniform
Wednesday - Formal Uniform (Blazers are not compulsory in Terms 4 and 1)
Thursday - Sports Uniform
Friday - Sports Uniform
Formal Uniform: grey formal shorts, blue button down short/long sleeved shirt, woollen vest, junior primary tie (with the flat bottom), grey knee-high socks, varsity cap, and black school shoes (leather not sneakers). They are only required to wear their blazers in Terms 2 and 3 (Winter Months).
Sports Uniform: in the summer boys are expected to wear Mosman Prep Navy sports polo shirt, Mosman Prep white shorts or on chilly days navy Mosman Prep track suit pants with mostly white sneakers, and their sun hat, and either a Mosman Prep fleece and/or Mosman Prep tracksuit top on chilly days. In the Winter they are also permitted to wear a white or navy long underwear singlet/shirt under their sports shirts for an extra layer. PLEASE LABEL EVERYTHING VISIBLY.

If you are interested in volunteering in the Second Hand Uniform shop, the shop is looking for 1-2 more volunteers for their roster. You would be required to open up the shop once per month and all volunteers need a WWCC. If you're interested please contact Ginny Vacy-Lyle on 0409 545 303.

Lunchboxes
Boys will need morning tea, fruit snack and lunch packed daily as well as a water bottle. Please ensure that there are no nut products and let the teachers know if your son has any allergies that all parents should be aware of when packing food for school.
We kindly ask that you pack a different container for each "meal/snack" as they end up in different buckets as the boys enter their classrooms, so one container for fruit snack, one for morning tea, and one for lunch. This ensures the boys still have food to eat at lunchtime.
Drop off & Pick-up
I know parking is hard to find, but please DO NOT PARK IN THE CARLINES (from the front of the main building all along the tennis courts all the way to in front of the EE stairs, look at signage). Do not double park or pull into driveways even if leaving the car idling with another child or adult in the car.
Please note THERE IS NO TURNING RIGHT ONTO CANROBERT Street from Mosman Prep's block of Shadforth Street during drop off and pick-up hours due to congestion with commuters. Please turn left and go up the hill and turn around the roundabout and return back down Canrobert Street.
Car Line Etiquette
Please pull up and as far forward as you can in the drop off zone before letting your sons off. I know it can be far from the Kindy classroom and main gate, but this helps alleviate congestion on Shadforth during drop off. Do not get out of the car to help your son or say goodbye, give your hugs before you get into the car. Please ensure he has everything he needs to get out of the car easily on his own. There will be staff on hand to lend him a hand when he's getting out so you don't have to get out.
For pick-ups, Kindy has the first pick-up slot, so please get in line about 2:40 on Shadforth and have your son's name visible on a visor or piece of paper for staff to help identify your son for your car. Again, do not get out of the car, the staff is there to help your son get into the car with his backpack and anything else he may have on hand.
Clifton Gardens Friday Afternoons
Our boys will spend their Friday afternoons (when the weather is good) playing at Clifton Gardens with the Year 1 boys under the supervision of their teachers. You can either pick your son up directly from Clifton Gardens about 2.30pm or else from car lines at 2.45pm (they will be bused to and from Clifton Gardens).
Library Day
Kindergarten’s Library lesson is on Thursdays.
School App
If you have any questions or issues accessing the ParentOrbit app, please contact Mr Blackband it@mosmanprep.nsw.edu.au.
Seesaw App
The teachers use the Seesaw App to relay messages and share photos of the boys with parents. If you haven't already received a Username and Login for Seesaw from your son's teacher, please email them and let them know.
Terrey Hills
We have three visits scheduled to our Outdoor Learning Centre at Terrey Hills this term:
● Monday 20th October (Week 2)
● Thursday 6th November (Week 4)
● Wednesday 19th November (Week 6)
Boys are asked to wear their house-coloured polo shirts and bring a packed lunch for this day as there will be no recess or lunch orders from the Canteen. We will ask for parent helpers closer to the time.
House Colours
There are three houses. MacDougall is powder blue (as opposed to the standard navy sports polo shirt) ,Yarnold is yellow, and Bradley is Green.
MacDougall, Yarnold and Bradley are the surnames of past Headmasters.

Canteen
Daily volunteers are essential to the school maintaining a cost-effective and smooth-running canteen service. As a parent volunteer, you'll work alongside canteen staff and serve the boys during recess periods 10.20am-11.20am. No kitchen or cooking experience required. Use this link Canteen Volunteer Form to sign up for a 1 hour shift any day(s) during the school term that you are available.
Any questions about canteen volunteering please contact Jeff Brown at 0400 410 737.
Orders can be made using the Flexischools App. We love our canteen! The food is delicious, nutritious and very good quality, and it helps support the work of the P&F!
Reminder, no canteen orders on Terrey Hills days as there isn't enough time for the amazing canteen team to put lunches together before the bus departs!

Meals With Love
Mosman Prep prides itself on its service to community, guided by our motto, Non Nobis Solum – Not for Ourselves Alone. In this spirit, in 2024 in partnership with the P&F, a school community initiative called ‘Meals with Love’ was launched.
This service provides home cooked evening meals for Mosman Prep families in times of need. All meals are cooked by parent and teacher volunteers and are available for as many evenings as required. This service is anonymous, so meals cooked by volunteers will be delivered to the office for collection by the family as coordinated by the School.
If your family has a need for this service, please contact Julie Shortland at the School Office at ea@mosmanprep.nsw.edu.au.
If you are also interested in being a volunteer and cooking the occasional meal for a family in need, please contact our new Meals with Love Coordinator, Georgina Ridhalgh at gridhalgh@hlbnsw.com.au.
Waste-Free Wednesdays
Help us make a difference to our environment with Waste-Free Wednesdays! As of Term 4, Mosman Prep will encourage students to bring their recess and lunch to school in reusable containers with no wrappers. By doing this, we can reduce our School's waste and help keep our environment clean. Thank you for your cooperation and support.
