About the Researcher

My name is Timothy Lindberg and I am an Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Minnesota - Morris.

I teach classes on Constitutional law and judicial politics as well as on political behavior in the American context.

My prior research has focused on the territorial system of the United States, in particular during 19th-century continental expansion and the Farmer-Labor Party in Minnesota.

This project is a new interest of mine in trying to understand rural identity in the context of political behavior and values. This is part of the larger question of what drives the perception of an urban-rural divide, which is important because it has numerous outcomes for our political system. As someone who grew up in the Twin Cities metropolitan area, has lived in a variety of mid-to-large sized urban areas, and now calls small-town Minnesota home, this question is personally and professionally important to me.

I am joined in this project by a small team of dedicated undergraduate students at the University of Minnesota - Morris. Without their help, there is no way I would be able to complete this task on my own.
