Students grades K - 6 are welcome to join the Zone crew as your family needs! Below you will find more information regarding the three child care options we have available, registration information, and other important dates and information.

We hope to see you at Zone!

Zone After School Program

3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Elementary Cafeteria

The primary purpose of the Zone After School Program is to provide a safe and fun learning environment for students grades K-6 during after school hours at Morris Area Elementary. While at Zone, students will enjoy a healthy snack, move their bodies, explore creativity, and expand their knowledge through a structured, yet flexible, daily schedule.

With guidance from the Zone coordinator, classroom teachers, and parents, the Zone staff provides a relaxed learning environment where students are able to work on their homework, but also work on other targeted concepts as needed. Additional academic, recreational, and enrichment activities are provided for students in case they have no homework.

Zone is a part of the University of Minnesota Morris' TREC program.

September 3 - May 29

Your child must be registered for Zone before they can start attending Late Start Wednesdays, Extended Zone, and Zone After School. Three things are needed:

1) Student Information Form

2) Parent Information Handbook

3) Money on Zone account

Information on the Student Information enrollment form includes: identification data, person(s) authorized to pick up your child, medical information, emergency information, and signatures from both a parent/guardian and the student. Permission and release information is also included. The Parent Information Handbook has important Zone information - essentially the Zone how-to guide. To put money on your child's Zone account, you can go online, stop by the Morris Area Community Education office or give Michele Hickman, Zone coordinator, a call to add funds to your account.

$5.00 a Day

Zone's daily charge is to cover snacks and extracurricular activities. Money must be placed on your family's Zone account in advance and may be done at the Morris Area Community Education office. Each time your child attends Zone and signs in, the $5.00 daily charge is deducted from their Zone account. It is your responsibility to keep your balance positive and up to date. Each Monday morning, an account balance update will be emailed to families.

You may pay for individual days, or for a larger package. There is a choice of a $25.00 package (5 days), a $50 package (10 days), a $100 package (50 days), or a $200 package (40 days). Days may also be purchased in increments of $5.00 in any amount you choose.

Scholarships and reduced fees are available for qualified families.
