Updates to Edpuzzle

• Youtube Partnership - playing Youtube through Edpuzzle will block all advertisements, banners, suggested videos, and data tracking.

• Edpuzzle Originals - a Library of over 3,000 standard aligned video-lessons K-12 for all subject levels teachers can use as is or edit to make their own. Air Tables that match MN standards to our Originals will be out by the end of the month! Here is the ELA one.

• Teacher Assist - generates questions and auto-grades short-response questions saving teachers valuable time planning and grading.

• Screen Recording - record a tab, desktop, blank whiteboard, or just your camera. New features include an annotation bar, whiteboard, timer countdown, and running clock.

Edpuzzle to Spanish

Unfortunately, Edpuzzle itself doesn't have a built-in feature to directly translate the entire assignment into Spanish. However, there are a few ways you can make your Edpuzzle assignments more accessible to Spanish-speaking students.

1. What I have done: Use Edpuzzle's Language Settings:

• Interface Language: Edpuzzle's interface itself can be changed to Spanish. This will help Spanish-speaking students navigate the platform more easily. They can do this by clicking their profile picture, then their name, and then selecting "Settings." Under the "Language" section, they can choose "Español" from the dropdown menu.

• Closed Captions: If the video you're using has closed captions in Spanish, make sure to turn them on within the Edpuzzle assignment.

2. Provide Translations for Your Questions and Notes:

• If you're comfortable with Spanish, you can translate your questions and notes directly within the Edpuzzle editor (or use a translation app?).

• Use online translation tools like Google Translate to help you translate your content. However, always double-check the accuracy of the translations, especially for complex or technical terms. If you have time email translate@morris.k12.mn.us for some help.

3. Consider Creating Separate Assignments: If you can, duplicate your Edpuzzle assignment and translate all the questions and notes into Spanish. This way, you can assign the appropriate version to each student based on their language proficiency.

Accommodations:

Another accommodation that could be helpful is using the audio questions/responses to support student learning. This enables teachers to record questions being read out loud and allows students to respond verbally on short-response questions. Teachers can also turn on "playback speed' in the settings to allow students to watch the video at a slower pace.

Translations:

As far as translations, any Youtube video with closed-captioning in Spanish will transfer over to Edpuzzle. To support Spanish speaking students, we have also translated many of our Edpuzzle Originals to Spanish (they are the same content, just created and designed in Spanish). You will see the symbol below:
