August 8th Bond Extension
Morrice Area Schools is continuing to plan for a 25 year, $7.0 million bond extension, to be placed on the August 8th, 2023 ballot. The Board of Education will officially call for the election at the May 10th Board of Education meeting. After the May 10th Board of Education Meeting, we will begin providing community members with more details on this bond extension.
This bond extension will be an extension of the current mills Morrice Area Schools levies. That said, this bond extension will not be an increase or additional monies paid yearly.
The focus of this bond will be to IMPROVE Safety, Instructional Environments and Infrastructure. Below is some of the work Morrice Area Schools will be able to complete at Morrice Elementary and Morrice Junior Senior High School with the passage of this bond extension:
Install Air Conditioning.
Update Security Measures. (cameras, metal detectors, update electronic key system, secure entrances, safety film near entrance doors/windows).
Update technology & classroom furniture.
Remodeling of the high school media center.
New flooring throughout both buildings.
Bathroom & locker room updates.

This is an exciting opportunity for Morrice Area Schools...our kids deserve the best! Again, we will share more detailed information in the future.

News From The Nurse
Medical Emergency Team
Morrice Area Schools have been working diligently to make the district a safer place for our Morrice students. With that being said we have formulated a Medical Emergency Response Team (MERT) of staff members to respond during any type of medical emergency on campus. We have involved staff in each area of our district to make up the teams, including early childhood, Elementary, and Jr/Sr High. This team of staff members have all been through cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillator (AED), and first aid training. We are working toward the goal of becoming a MI HEARTSafe School. In the upcoming months our staff and students will be practicing how to manage medical emergencies and their roles & responsibilities during those medical emergencies. All the teachers have been assigned buddy teachers and in the case of an event students will practice reporting to their assigned buddy teacher. We will be involving Emergency Medical Services (EMS) when practicing the drills, and to not be alarmed if you see EMS vehicles at either of the schools in upcoming months.
