Students from the spring 2021 Mass Communication Capstone Seminar interviewed Morningside College students, faculty, staff and administration, conducting research on the topic of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). We learned that the newly formed DEI committee is working to address these issues, including developing resources for use across campus.

We have experienced overwhelmingly positive feedback from the Morningside community. However, there are voices on campus who aren’t quite so optimistic. Both sides are represented in this project.

We have concluded that Morningside is on the right path to becoming better at dealing with the topic of DEI, but as an institution and as individuals, there is still work to be done.

We are hopeful for what will come from the DEI committee in the future.
