Welcome to week 3 of March Badgeness!
This week, we want to hear your voice! Yup, you heard me right. You’re going to make your very own mini-podcast! 🎤
Don’t worry, you won’t be doing this alone. We’ll support you every step of the way! Your podcast will be short and sweet (about 2-5 minutes), and won’t be shared publicly. However, we will share it with others in this course.
The idea is to give you a taste of how easy it can be to share those powerful teaching tips you and your rock star colleagues have with others in the field. 🌟
To help you prepare and start thinking about what your project might look like, this is what our week will look like:
Tuesday - We’ll give you topic suggestions and a script template to get you started.
Wednesday - We’ll give you a tutorial of how to create a simple podcast using Canva.
Thursday - You’ll interview a fellow teacher and record the conversation.
Friday - You’ll edit your podcast and share it with us.
Are you ready to get started?! Think about which of your rock star colleagues might be good to interview and ask if they’d be willing to participate in a simple interview-style Q&A session. Let them know you’re participating in this course and want to get your feet wet with creating your own mini-podcast. Below is a list of topic suggestions. You’re welcome to use one of our ideas or create one of your own. You may want to consider sharing the script with your colleague today so they can think about and prepare their answers before recording tomorrow.

💡Tip: You can use voice typing to dictate your script so it sounds natural and flows.
Canva is our favorite free tool, and it is Ed Law 2-d compliant this school year so you can even use it with your students! If you don’t already have an account, create a Canva for Education account using your school email address and state that you’re a teacher for free access to all the bells and whistles!

Today’s the day! 🎤 Go ahead and record your conversation with your colleague using Canva. Be sure to speak loud and clear. Sit close to your computer and minimize background noise so your microphone picks up the conversation clearly. If you make a mistake, you can delete the recording and try again. Perhaps breaking the recording into chunks might make it easier. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to us hshaffer@moric.org and kdonley@moric.org.
It’s time to earn that badge! Go ahead and make those final edits to polish your mini-podcast. Then, copy/paste the public view link to your podcast and reflect on your experience in this Google Form to earn your 3rd badge! Congratulations on making your very own podcast! We cannot wait to hear all of the awesome tips you’re sharing!
