S.T.A.R. Teachers of Morgan County Schools

STAR teachers in Morgan County are recognized for the use of “Scholarly Technology Applications and Resources” in face-to-face and virtual learning environments. Exemplary models of the use of classroom technology include, but are not limited to, the following: applies the innovative use of technology to enhance teaching and learning experiences for all students, connects students to content in engaging ways, uses technology to support a variety of learners, and provides the opportunity for students to use technology creatively.

These educators are nominated by parents, students, other educators, or an administrator, for their ongoing outstanding classroom technology integration.

Ms. Cortney Kile

Cortney Kile is a 4th grade teacher at Paw Paw Elementary School. Ms. Kile was nominated as a STAR Teacher for her self created detailed instructional videos in virtual learning. Melinda Kasekamp, Principal of Paw Paw Schools states, "Her math lessons feature her teaching each concept on You-tube with problems being shown on a whiteboard as she does a think -aloud of the process. She has poured her heart and soul into making online work for her students and we are so very proud of her." Rita Fortney

Rita Fortney has served as a Speech and Language Pathologist for Morgan County Schools since 2015. She was nominated as a STAR Teacher for her use of Virtual Teletherapy in speech services. Her use of multiple platforms such as Class Dojo, Teams, Zoom and Google, as well as the use of interactive web games, and google slides, are just some of the ways she engages her students in sessions. Her colleagues state that "not only has she worked to increase her knowledge of tech integration, she has taught the youngest of learners how to use new technology platforms".
