The Georgia Department of Education recognizes that children come to school with varying experiences and may need some assistance at our school. The Early Intervention Program (EIP) is designed to provide kindergarten, first and second grade students with additional teachers to help children learn the required skills to reach grade level benchmarks in a timely manner.
Our school uses the EIP Pull Out model in which the students leave their homerooms to receive 45 additional minutes of instruction with an EIP teacher. The group sizes vary, but we have no more than 14 students per certified teacher in a group for any grade level. Students will not miss important skills when they leave their homerooms, and will benefit from additional literacy and/or math instruction. We will also use the EIP Push In model which has EIP teachers go into the classroom for 45 minutes for additional instructional assistance in reading and/or math.
EIP groups are flexible, and it is our goal to catch the students up as quickly as possible so they will no longer need additional services. Some students may need EIP services for a few months and other students may need EIP services for the entire school year. EIP teachers and classroom teachers work together to provide the most effective educational program for your child.
