In the Middle Ages, Muslim people developed a rich culture. By 750 C.E., Muslims ruled Spain, North Africa, the Middle East, and much of central Asia. Over the next 500 years, many cultural influences blended in this vast region. Arabs, Persians, Turks, and others all helped to build Islamic civilization.
The Islamic world was rich, diverse, and creative. Great cities flourished as centers of culture. Jewish, Christian, and Muslim scholars worked to translate ancient texts from Greece, India, and Persia into Arabic. They preserved old learning and made significant advancements in fields such as medicine, math, astronomy, biology, and physics. This progress impacted the Scientific Revolution in Europe centuries later.
