We knew we wanted to tackle the large event side of things within Cornwall and found that it is a very competitive market to enter into. So we went back to the drawing board and applied to the more locally based events. We were given our first ‘Gigs’ by: an awesome fella who is a large part of the St.Tudy Carnival Committee, a very lovely lady who organises the Lanlivery Vintage Rally Family Horse Show, Gymkhana & Dog Show and two lovely gentleman from the Parish of Blisland who organise the Blisland Village Fayre. These guys gave us the opportunity to see what we were capable of and gave us the confidence for the following years to attend other carnivals, fayres and local events within the Bodmin & Camelford surrounding villages. The events we have attended have most definitely pushed us and proven that we can serve a maximum of 200 within only a few hours out of our little Horsebox.
Alongside the events we have attended we also realised that we can not just attend events but to utilise the trailer as an everyday thing….. so we thought..
To start we would do a takeaway service at the Blisland Village Hall on a Friday night and St. Breward Football Club came along not long after, we would alternate the Fridays between the two villages. After a while, problems with logistics on our end became hard work so we had to call it.
Whilst we were doing the Friday night takeaways the trailer was pitched during the day at the layby at Two Bridges, Lewwannick, Launceston, we would pull the trailer on site in the morning and pull it away and store it off site at night. After a year or so we found that it had its complications and made the sad decision to come away from the site. It took a few months to lick our wounds and decide that all is not lost and that this wasn't the path we are meant to be on (forever the optimist). We had a suggestion that the new Bradfords Builders merchants in Tregadillett, Lauceston were looking for an on site snack wagon. So we approached them and they gave us the pitch. We saw some hella winter weather there and the guys from Bradfords are such a lovely bunch, we were sad to leave.
