Goals

1. Incubate: Innovative teachers have a million ideas bound by the constraints of time, money and (possibly) expertise. These untapped ideas represent a vast unrealized sink of potential innovative greatness. To create an ecosystem in schools that supports innovation, teachers need help dissolving the constraints. Moonshot21 provides teachers with support to design and implement projects or practices that feel out of reach.
2. Impact: Moonshot21 has two major measurable impacts:

Teacher Mindset and Empowerment - teachers want to innovate; it is in our nature. Teachers need creative and meaningful leadership opportunities. Teachers want to be help each other grow. Teachers who have a bias toward progress will become role models for students as they make attempts and fail forward in an innovative ecosystem. As teachers grow more comfortable in design-thinking, instruction and classroom experience can be transformed.

Student Learning Gains - At the heart of all innovation, student learning must be present. There can be no education of 21st Century Students without 21st century teachers. Student learning will be enhanced when Innovative spaces are used for innovative practices; when teachers join students in “hacking” their projects and practices to be more student-centered; when students are given more responsibility for their learning and have the skills to take that responsibility; and when measures of student learning and satisfaction increase.
