First Grade Mexico Day Songs

The Core Knowledge day for first grade is "Mexico Day". It is a celebration of the end of the Core Knowledge Mexico unit. It is usually held on the first Friday of May to coincide with the "Cinco de Mayo" celebrations.  First grade students will learn these 4 traditional Mexican songs and will perform them at the Mexico Day assembly.  Mrs. Lemme, the music teacher, and Mrs. Laird will  work together to teach these songs in their respective classes. Mr. Kidd, the P.E. teacher will work with Mrs. Lemme to teach the kids the Mexican Hat Dance and Mrs. Hulting, the art teacher, will explore elements of Mexican art and artists.  This is a great example of cross-curricular cooperation in which Specials classes actively support the learning done in the homeroom classrooms.  These videos are a great way to reinforce learning at home and give the students the opportunity to practice the songs.
