*Our schedule will always rotate. I will send home the schedule in the weekly newsletter. Below is an example.
Monthly Calendar will be sent home
This year our class will be using a Lucky Ducks behavior management system to encourage positive choices and hard work in the classroom. Students will be given a container to collect ducks. Ducks can be earned throughout the day through hard work, excellent classroom behavior, and showing kindness to others.
As students earn ducks, they will be working towards different rewards. Once 10 ducks are collected, the student will earn a Plinko token for the Plinko game to see what he/she wins. These rewards are incentives for positive behavior and good choices. This behavior management system is fun and will help our classroom work successfully throughout the school year!
Possible Rewards:
Stickers
Candy
Erasers
Pencils
Squishies
Coupons to use in our classroom
Prize Box
Other forms of recognition for outstanding work and behavior:
Spartan Slips: Spartan Slips will be utilized for awesome behavior in our classroom! When your child earns a slip, he/she will take it to the office and receive a sticker to wear for the day. The slip will then be entered into a drawing from the office for various prizes or books.
Wow Papers: When your child earns a WOW paper, he/she will earn a special frog. These papers have amazing printing/coloring and no mistakes. Your child’s work stands out amongst the other students. Frogs will earn the student an automatic Plinko token.

Handbook- Please use your Kindergarten Handbook for our classroom as a resource throughout the year for important information. This handbook answers many questions that families have about our classroom. You will receive this handbook during the first week of school.
Newsletter- A weekly newsletter will be sent home explaining all the things that are happening in our classroom. It will provide important information about what we are learning! It will provide ideas of what to focus on with your child at home.
Morning Snack- Please provide a healthy snack daily (no nuts please). Do not send in juice- only water is permitted. Please do not send in fruit cups as they tend to be messy.
Some snack examples include: dry cereal, pretzels, cereal bars, pre-cut fruits/vegetables, raisins, goldfish, crackers.
Star Student- During the 2nd half of the year, our classroom will begin having Star Students. Your child will bring directions and a poster. Your child will be celebrated throughout his/her specific week. All students will have the opportunity to be the Star Student.
Birthday Celebrations- If your child would like to send in birthday invitations, please make sure your child has enough for all children OR all boys or all girls. Invitations will not be passed out if there is not enough - we do not want any child to feel left out! Food items are NOT permitted for birthdays (please do not send in cupcakes or cookies). You may send in non-food items such as: pencils, erasers, notepads, stickers, etc.
Rest Time- Please send in a blanket or towel for your child to use during rest time. They will be sent home every week to be washed. Please do not send in pillows or stuffed animals since space is limited.
Food Services- From the Montour website, you can download/view the elementary lunch menu. You are also able to add money to your child's account (there is a service fee). You can send in a check made out to the Montour School District to add money to your child's account as well. The check should be in a marked envelope with your child's name.
Absences- If your child is absent from school, please send in a written note explaining the reason for the absence. You need a written note for each absence.
Early Pick-Up- If your child is going to be picked up early, please send in a written note with the time and reason. The note will be sent to the office with your child at the time of the pick-up.
Home Learning- Homework packets will go home on Mondays. All directions are on the front page. They should be returned on Fridays. Pick an activity listed and spend less than 10 minutes on it per day. Activities may include practicing sight words, reading CVC words, and printing practice.
Teacher Time Sentences- Once your child begins reading, I will send home sentences that we practice at school. I recommend you read these sentences several times to build fluency and expression. I also recommend you keep these sentences as they will be a great option for reading practice in the summer!
Math- Please keep the Homework/Practice Workbook at home. If your child has difficulty with a lesson/skill, you will receive a note on the math lesson. Feel free to practice the lesson in the homework workbook. The homework does not need returned.
