Ask Questions

Talking to your child about the book they're reading is a great way to help build their comprehension and understanding of the book. Below are some questions to help guide your conversation.

  • What's going on in your story?
  • What is the setting of the story?
  • What do you think the book would be like if it took place somewhere else?
  • What do you think will happen?
  • Which character do you feel most alike?
  • How is this story like any other you have read before?


Make Predictions

  • What challenges do you think the character might face?
  • How do you think the story might end? Why do you think so?


Make Connections

  • What does this paragraph/ character remind you of?
  • Have you read another story similar to this one?
  • How did this story make you feel?
