*Water bottles with lids are permitted. Please DO NOT send juice boxes, Gatorade, Prime, or other colored drinks. Save those drinks for lunch.
1. LISTEN to others.
2. FOLLOW DIRECTIONS.
3. RAISE YOUR HAND.
4. RESPECT yourself and others.
5. BE PROUD. BE HONEST. BE KIND.
Students need to be taught how to act appropriately in a classroom community. We will spend a lot of time modeling and praising correct classroom behavior. As mistakes happen (and they will), we will talk about making better choices in situations. Students will not be punished or tracked with colors. My goal is to teach your child to be kind, make good choices, and learn from mistakes.
Good choices will be rewarded with classroom bucks. Bucks can be redeemed in our classroom store for a variety of prizes and coupons.
If at any time you would like to discuss any behavior concerns, please feel free to contact me. When the teacher and the parents work together, positive results are achieved. Please help your child learn appropriate school behavior by supporting my attempts to instill positive behavior in your child.
Thank you for your time and cooperation!
Weekly High Frequency Words (Sight Words) and Spelling Words will be in the rings of the Home School Binder. Practice these words as often as your child needs. A checklist of weekly required skills is also included in the packet along with optional practice pages. This is not required.
A math homework book will also be sent home at the beginning of the year. You can find extra practice for each lesson, but this is not required.
Information about optional practice pages will always be listed on the weekly reminders in your child's Home School Binder.
Reading nightly is the best homework a first grader can do! Try to spend 10-15 minutes every night reading with your child.
Practice high frequency words (sight words) and spelling words nightly (as needed).
Check the Weekly Reminders for optional practice pages.
Practice addition and subtraction basic facts nightly.
Email is one way to reach me with quick questions or concerns. I can check my email first thing in the morning and after school.
Download the Seesaw app and join our class. This is the easiest and fastest way to reach me. You can send me personal and private messages. There will be important information and other announcements/reminders to keep you in the loop.
You can also reach me by phone. The best times to call me are before school starts (8:00-8:30) and after school (3:30-4:00).
You can send notes, excuses, dismissal changes, etc. in the front pocket of your child's Home School binder. Please remind your child that important papers are there to give me.
