Speech/Language Therapy

Parents are frequently the first person to notice that their child’s speech and/or language skills are difficult for their child. Parents should contact their child’s classroom teacher if they have concerns regarding their child’s speech/language development.  A speech-language pathologist (SLP) will complete a screening, following signed consent for screen from parents.  If deemed appropriate, interventions will then be completed with the child to assist with these concerns.  If little or no progress is made within an acceptable amount of time, a referral is made for further assessment to determine if the child qualifies for speech/language therapy.

Students must be formally assessed and meet specific criteria set forth by the State of Minnesota in order to be eligible for speech/language services in schools.
