How many years have you been teaching?

• This is my 5th year teaching and 3rd at Montevideo. I have previously been with the Brandon-Evansville & St. Cloud (Tech High School) schools.

Why did you choose teaching as a career and why choose Social Studies?

• I have always had an interest in the natural sciences and the world around us. Yet social studies connects every subject a person needs in school. No matter what you do or where you go, you will always be connected to a core concept in social studies. I thoroughly enjoy the content, especially history and psychology. I was also greatly influenced by the amazing social studies teachers I had growing up, especially in 10th grade when I had Mr. Eckart, a history teacher whose teaching style was rather eccentric. His passion is what convinced me to try teaching along with Mr. Harlander who helped inspire me to be a better person through positive encouragement and make me accountable for my actions. Their actions unintentionally pushed me towards this career and my goal is to share with my students what they did for me. To make the school a more inviting place and to build relationships with teachers to push them to be better.

What are some of you hobbies?

• I greatly enjoy fishing and I love to tell my own stories along with hearing what stories other people have.

• Golfing is something new I have picked up that I never thought I would enjoy as much as I have. Feel free to talk to me about any activities or sports as I am always interested to hear about what interests a person and why they enjoy it.

Do you coach or advise any sports or activities?

• Yes, several actually:

  • 9th Grade Football

  • JV Softball

  • Student Council Advisor
