Commitment, Dedication, and Pride
A Community School functions as a neighborhood hub to provide holistic "wraparound" services such as healthcare, dental care, mental health counseling, and food pantries—directly on-site to reduce barriers to learning. What that also means is, depending on the community and it's specific needs, there are NO TWO schools that are exactly alike.
Community schools build the communities we want to see. Shared power between students, families, educators and every level of the community creates a transformational, racially-just education experience that allows young people to thrive.

Collaborative Leadership and Practices
Active Community Engagement
Expanded and enriched learning time gives students more chances to learn, grow, and discover what they love. Through after-school programs, clubs, and extra academic support, students build skills, confidence, and strong connections in a safe, supportive environment. It also supports families and helps make the school a true center of the community.
Integrated student supports help students succeed by meeting their academic, social, and emotional needs in one connected system. When schools coordinate supports like counseling, health services, and family assistance, students feel supported, stay engaged, and are better able to focus on learning.
Collaborative leadership brings students, families, staff, and community partners together to make better decisions. When everyone has a voice and works as a team, schools build trust, respond to real needs, and create a stronger, more supportive learning community.
Active family and community engagement strengthens student success by building strong partnerships between schools, families, and the community. When families feel welcomed and involved, students are more supported, motivated, and connected to their learning.
