AVID EXCEL

AVID Excel accelerates students’ academic English and puts them on a pathway to high school AVID and college readiness. AVID Excel provides students with sustained, strategic, academic and language-building support, while helping them form a strong team with a cohort of peers who share the same college aspirations.

AVID Excel includes a two-week summer course between 6th and 7th grades and between 7th and 8th grades and a year-long elective courses in 7th and 8th grade. Students develop their academic reading, writing, oral language, self-advocacy and study skills, as well as participate in scholar groups, tutorials, motivational activities, and leadership trait development. AVID Excel is currently at Suva Intermediate School.

We are proud to offer the AVID Excel Program for 7th & 8th graders at the following schools:

La Merced Intermediate, Macy Intermediate, Montebello Intermediate, and Suva Intermediate.
