How can one woman find independence hidden inside a tragedy? In this iconic story by Kate Chopin, a woman learns of her husband’s sudden death and has a surprising reaction.

Students will be able to annotate the text in order to ask meaningful questions, make inferences, and better understand the story. Students will be able to identify literary elements such as character, setting and theme in order to see how these elements shape plot
