Luxury resorts like the Montauk Manor and Captain's Marina had been around for years. In contrast, however, the Montauk Oceanside Park (today's Montauk Shores Condominiums at Ditch Plains), continued to operate as a trailer park campground until its sale in 1976. Meanwhile, on the harbor side, open sportfishing boats upported a brisk business at many Montauk motels and restaurants.
