The Literary Essay: Analyzing Craft and Theme
Position Papers: Research and Argument
8th graders will also read Jack London's The Call of the Wild and William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, helping to prepare them for their high school courses. Throughout the year, students will write for a variety of purposes, present to small and large groups, and research many different topics.
