January:  Floor Hockey, Fencing and Gymnastic!  What a fun month in the gym!

Mrs. Rice's Classes

K-1 

• Skills: Following directions, recognizing beat, galloping, skipping, striking with an implement, balance, coordination, upper body strength 

• Activities:  Very Simple Dance, Mexican Hat Dance, Virginia Reel, Bunny Hop, Conga Line, Fencing, Floor Hockey 1 v 1, Keepy-Uppy, Paddle Battle, Gymnastics (travels, jumps, balances) 

2-5 

• Skills: Striking with a hockey stick, Offense, Defense, Striking with an implement, balance, coordination, upper body strength 

• Activities: Monster with hockey sticks, Spiders and Flies, Floor Hockey Games, Fencing, Sharks and Minnows Floor Hockey, Floor Hockey Games, Gymnastics (travels, jumps, balances)

• Skills:  Striking with an implement, balance, flexibility, strength, coordination

• Activities: Dance:  YMCA, Chicken Dance, Cha Cha Slide, Virginia Reel, Mexican Hat, Limbo, Fencing, 1v1 Floor Hockey, Paddle Keep it Up, Gymnastics Stations:  Rolling, Rings, Springboard Jump, Balance Beam, Travels, Individual and Partner Balances, Pyramids

2-5: 

• Skills: Stick Handling, Passing and dribbling with a hockey stick, striking with an implement, balance, flexibility, upper body strength

• Activities: Hockey Pirates, Sharks and Minnows Floor Hockey, 2 v 2 Hockey games, Push-Ups Assessment, Fencing, Gymnastics: Travels, Individual and Partner Balances, Pyramids, Balance Beam, Rings, Springboard Jump, Forward Rolling, Wall Handstands

December:  Basketball, Holiday Games and all the fun of the season!

• Activities:  Pop the Bubbles, Defensive Slides, Basketball Rotations, Winter Relays, Ninja-Bread Hide-and-Seek, Winter Stations 

2-5 

• Skills: Defensive stance, basketball shooting and dribbling, chest and bounce passes, teamwork, sportsmanship, under and overhand throwing 

• Activities: Defensive Slides, Basketball Stations, Ultimate Shoot-out, Basketball Bowling, Basketball Scrimmages, Winter Relays, Ninja-Bread Hide-and-Seek, Winter Stations

November:  The focus in November was on improving cardiovascular fitness and learning about nutrition!

October:  PE classes played games with a focus on striking a ball with our feet, throwing and catching and played some festive games!

September:  This first month of P.E. was focused on creating routines, learning P.E. rules and expectations, improving classroom culture and having fun!
