Our Approval Process

As new digital tools are requested for classroom use, the Technology Committee will review each application to ensure it meets Monroe's standards for best practice. When available, the tool is vetted using commonsense.org.

Process Overview

Step 1

Any free or cost associated technology-based software or hardware that is not currently on the Technology Decisions 2020+ sheet needs to be approved to be piloted in the classroom. This includes any technology ranging from resources such as: apps, computers, iPads, Chrome extensions, robotics, VR, etc. Click below to submit a request.

Step 2

A rubric will be used by Teaching and Learning to assess the following criteria:

  • Financial Sustainability

  • Potential for Impact

  • Legality

  • Support Capability (ex: rostering, troubleshooting)

  • Accessibility

Step 3

The teacher will be notified with a decision as to whether or not the technology can be piloted in the classroom. This process should occur within 1-3 business days, but may be extended if further investigation is needed.
