Principal's Message

Welcome to the Monroe County Area Technology Center's website! I am very thankful to be the principal at MCATC. I have a varied background in business, education, and coaching; along with a deep commitment to student success. As someone who formerly worked in a medical office, I value postsecondary readiness, industry certification, and student growth that prepares our youth for the workplace. 

I grew up with aspirations of a career in healthcare and took what CTE classes were available in high school. The rigor and hands-on experiences of those classes helped prepare me for the chiropractic path I took following my undergraduate education. Along with healthcare and business experience, I bring eight years of experience in secondary education. I have served in roles that combine instructional leadership, student support, and staff collaboration. I am particularly passionate about setting high expectations and fostering a positive school culture where students feel supported, respected, and motivated to achieve their full potential. 

Building strong relationships with students and staff is at the core of my leadership philosophy. The MCATC has a reputation of enabling student success following graduation and I want that legacy to continue. Our goals are to provide our learners with the working knowledge, skills, and experiences that prepare them for their transition into postsecondary careers and/or training.  We offer Career Pathways in the areas of: Automotive Technology (Instructor:  Chris Graves), Business & Marketing (Instructor:  Kaylin Graves), Construction Carpentry Technology (Instructor:  Jason Arterburn), Electrical Technology (Instructor:  Barry Wood), Health Sciences (Instructors:  Emily Ford and Kennedy Pennington), Welding Technology (Instructor: Michael Thompson), and Wood Manufacturing (Instructor:  Jeff Short).  Each program prepares students to pass an End of Program Assessment (EOP) and/or an Industry Certification Assessment to receive an Industry Certification.  Students who attend Monroe County High School and Metcalfe County High School have the opportunity to attend our center.

As an alumnus of Metcalfe County High and as an educator in Monroe County, I am beyond grateful students have a local option for Career and Technical Education and the opportunities these programs offer students. At the Monroe County Area Technology Center, we serve with an open-door philosophy and are always open to ideas, suggestions, and wish to help our community in any way that we can.  Please reach out to us and we look forward to working with our students, parents, schools, and community.
