About Me

My name is Mrs. Kaitlyn Johnston, and this is my 8th year teaching at Tompkinsville Elementary School. I taught 1st grade for five years, and this is my third year as a special education resource teacher.

My husband and I enjoy spending every minute spoiling our dachshund puppy, Vash. I also enjoy reading, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.

I graduated from Western Kentucky University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. I graduated from WKU again in 2021 with my Master of Arts in Education: Special Education (Learning and Behavior Disorders). I graduated from WKU again in 2023 with my Master of Science in Libraries, Informatics, and Technology in Education.

Teaching is my passion, and I believe that each student has the ability to learn and be successful. It is my mission to meet each child’s individual needs. I will always hold high expectations for each and every child in my classroom, and I will work hard to ensure that each child has the opportunity to be the best that they can be.
