How do I know how my child is doing in class?
Each week, we have progress report check-ins, along with other curriculum-based assessments. Each assessment is designed as a sign and return. This way, parents are in an understanding of their child's progress each week and any further communication regarding this will be easier to facilitate.
Alternative ways to communicate with me regarding your child's progress could be through a brief phone call, email or Class Dojo message, and parent teacher conferences twice per school year.
What if my child comes in late or misses a day of school?
Things happen, and sometimes we can't always make it in on time! Each student has a "Ketchup Folder" of work they need to finish when they are out of school. During our WIN period would be the best time for your child to make assignments up or meet with me in order to get caught up on missed lessons.
Is there snack time in second grade?
Yes! There is a 15-20 minute snack break built into each morning. Most snacks will be a working snack or a chance for me to read a chapter from one of our class novels. A healthier snack is always encouraged as our snack time will be before lunch!
Will my child be using technology during school?
Yes! Some days, your child may be utilizing an iPad or Chromebook in our ELA centers. Technology will be use when working on district apps like Clever, Reading Eggs, Epic, etc. Some projects in our ELA curriculum also require research where technology plays a large role. In addition, your child will be expected to perform standardized tests such as MAP on a Chromebook.
How can I connect with my students' teacher?
There are many ways to stay connected! Here are my most common ways to stay in touch with all families:
