About Us
Monforton School District has a long and proud history of serving students in the Four Corners and greater Gallatin Valley area. The district was established in 1883, when local rancher and early settler William Monforton donated land for a one-room schoolhouse to serve the children of area farming and ranching families.
As the community grew, so did the school. Monforton expanded from a single-room schoolhouse to multiple classrooms, and eventually to the modern K-8 district it is today. The district now operates two campuses — Monforton Elementary and Monforton Middle School — serving approximately 700 students.
While much has changed over the past 140 years, Monforton School District remains rooted in its strong sense of community, commitment to student learning, and dedication to providing a safe, supportive, and innovative educational environment for all students.
