Are you competitive?! Participating in our judging teams may just be for you. Created based on agricultural careers, the Thomas Downey FFA chapter has teams in agronomy, livestock evaluation, and veterinary science. Challenge your critical thinking and effective decision-making skills while you recongize the value of ethical competition and individual acheivement. These contests are hosted at colleges around California, on Saturdays from February-May.
Calling all public speakers! There are many different opportunities for public speaking both as a team and individually. These competitions are Opening and Closing Ceremonies (all), Creed Recitation (freshmen), Impromptu Speaking (sophomores), El Credo de FFA (all), Extemporaneous Speaking (all), Prepared Public Speaking (all), and Job Interview (all).
Do you like to travel?! Check out the different FFA conferences and conventions! Made for students of all ages all around California, these conferences and conventions give you the opportunity to reflect on you and your leadership skills, understand how to take advantage of all opportunities in agricultural education, and make a game plan for you and your future. Do you want to be more involved with planning our chapter events and activities? Join one of our committees! Our committees provide unique ways to be involved with our chapter in a way that interests you. Our committees are: the party committee, the public relations committee, the building committee, the point awards committee, and the community service committee.Â
Do you think it's time to take your leadership skills to the next level?! Become a leader in the FFA! You can serve as a leader and officer starting at the chapter (school) level, and work your way up to leading the section, region, even state! Ask one of your current FFA officers to learn more.
