AVID is a four-year elective class for students who are serious about succeeding in high school and college. Our goal is to provide capable students with the support to thrive in any curriculum and course they desire to take through developing and practicing useful academic skills. The class is composed of class-work led by the AVID teacher and tutorial groups led by high school tutors. AVID methodologies focus on writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading.
Is AVID a good fit for me? Does this list describe you?
You work well with others.
You have a positive attitude in school.
You do your homework.
You want to challenge yourself.
You are willing to try different methods for learning and keeping track of assignments.
You want to more thoroughly understand class material (math, English, science, history, etc.)
You would earn better grades with more support – in learning methods and organization.
You would enjoy being a part of a small family-community in high school.
