Earning a Grade in Band

40 out of the 100 possible points are determined through a student's participation in DAILY REHEARSALS.

20 out of the 100 possible points are determined by gathering evidence of a student's INDIVIDUAL GROWTH on their instrument and as a musician.

The remaining 40 possible points are generated from:

• Performances worth 20 possible points each

• After-school Rehearsals worth 10 possible points each

• Class quizzes and tests with a variable amount of points available. Any of these types of assessment are clearly communicated to students in class and are noted in the gradebook when they are administered.

All performances and rehearsals of the MSMS Bands are required of each band student.

An unexcused absence to a performance will result in a reduction of a student’s trimester final grade by 20 points.

An unexcused absence to a rehearsal will result in a reduction of a student’s trimester final grade by 10 points.
