(offered Semester 1 & 2 and Summer A). This unit is only offered at these sites.
Students may also undertake GEN3990 as part of their degree. Please confirm with the Biomedicine Academic Support Unit or Faculty of Science and GEN3990 coordinator. You will need to apply through the Faculty of Science for this unit.
1. Self-assess your eligibility for the unit.
You can find information about criteria in the unit handbook:
https://handbook.monash.edu/
2. Find a supervisor and research project.
Your department unit coordinator will be able to assist with this process. Some departments have project lists (see above).
You can also look at:
Supervisor Connect for short projects.
Honours project booklets to see what types of students projects are being offered (available on school/institute websites). Researchers may have short projects available connected to larger projects running their research area.
Websites - the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute, School of Translational Medicine, School of Clinical Sciences, the Hudson Institute of Medical Research or the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine websites list their research areas and researchers. You can contact researchers directly to see if they have short projects available to undertake as a 3990 research project.
3. Complete the Expression of Interest form (hard copy form)
You and your supervisor must complete the EOI form.
4. Complete this online application form.
