Referencing is a system used in assessments to acknowledge where evidence, ideas, theories, facts, images, or any other information came from. It is used in both spoken and written work.
This site focuses on the Chicago style, which is based on the Chicago Manual of Style 17th edition. The Chicago style has two systems - Notes and Bibliography (A), and Author-Date (B). This site will teach you how to use the Author-Date system.
*NOTE: The Chicago 18th edition was released in 2024, providing updated rules to the style. Please carefully check your assessment instructions to make sure you are using the correct version of Chicago.
