Mr Edward Attenborough has completed his Bachelor of Science and Chemical Engineering (Honours) at Monash. Born in England and raised in rural Tasmania, Edward moved to Melbourne in 2014 to undertake his double degree. In his free time, Edward likes to build computers, climb mountains, travel and brew beer. Recently coming back from Iceland, where he undertook a research project with the University of Reykjavik looking into algal biodiesel production from geothermal flue gas, he is enthusiastic about sustainable and renewable energy engineering, as well as sustainable biofuels. Edward worked with the group to design a format, framework and bioprocess for a new student led biotechnology team, focusing on biodiesel production, whilst enabling students to learn experientially outside of the classroom. His key research areas moving forward include cheap bioreactor design, sustainable lipid extraction and efficient project management for student led biotechnology teams. Eddie is currently working as a Research Officer with Dr Leonie Van't Hag in the Dept of Chemical Engineering.
