Laura's PhD research (Loughborough University, UK) focused on Physical Education (PE) teachers' approaches to teaching about health, and fitness testing emerged as a the most popular method. She continued her focus on fitness testing as a component of Health and Physical Education (HPE) when she moved to Australia to take up her position at Monash University. This helped her make more sense of why fitness testing was such a popular practice for HPE teachers.
In 2020, Laura worked with Zali Yager and Lisa Young to explore the psychological impact of fitness testing on adolescent Australians. An overview of that research can be found here.
Laura currently working with some amazing students, teachers and community stakeholders to co-create and sustain new and improved ways of teaching through fitness testing in Health and Physical Education (or Physical Education, depending on where you are in the world).
