Before you chose an elective, here are some important things to consider:
Prerequisites, Corequisites and Prohibitions
Check the Handbook for any enrolment rules. The unit enrolment rules include prerequisites, corequisites and prohibitions:
'Prerequisite' units must have been completed successfully prior to undertaking the unit for which they are listed.
'Corequisite' units either must have been completed previously or may be taken concurrently in the same semester.
Units listed with a 'prohibition' to another unit usually have significant content overlap and students are not allowed to enrol in both units.
As a first year student, you should only enrol into only level 1 units. You can tell which units are level 1 because the first number of the unit code starts with the #1.
Year 1 unit - ABC1000 (example HSC1011)
Year 2 unit - ABC2000 (example HSC2300)
Year 3 unit - ABC3000 (example PBH3009)
Please be aware of the location of where the unit is being offered.
Do NOT choose units that are offered at Malaysia.
If you choose units which are only offered at the Clayton or Peninsula Campus, you may find yourself travelling between campuses to attend classes.
All elective units can be found by searching the Monash Handbook
