Monash Malaysia, as we should, aspires to be a recognised leader in education excellence and innovation in the ASEAN region. To achieve this aspiration we must transform our educational practices and align with what the evidence tells us promotes better student experiences and student outcomes. We know the kinds of graduates that employers are seeking, we have known for a long time, and we must provide experiences that develop those capabilities. 2020 has been a year to remember. Restrictions to campus and those traditional ways of providing education have accelerated opportunities to engage students in virtual environments, to explore and implement creative ways for students to collaborate, to be challenged to take a proactive role in their learning, and to be assessed in different ways. What a ride this has been and what heroic efforts we have seen to maintain continuity for our students so they can progress and complete their studies without delay and disruption. Our challenge for 2021 is how to take the best of 2020, not lose that momentum, and consolidate to create a truly transformative experience for students on campus and in the virtual environments.
The campus education plan translates these aspirations into concrete initiatives and targets. Some of these initiatives seek to support you, while others may require your support to see them achieved. For this reason, we invite everyone in the Monash Malaysia community to review the plan and see how it aligns with your own ongoing (and doubtlessly tireless) contributions. The campus education plan is a crucial tool in guiding many of our decisions, especially as we formulate our Professional Development Plans (PDPs) for the coming year.
