Hello,
Welcome to your new home at Briggs Hall!!
Home for 303 residents, Briggs residents are from all over the world. Our community is centred around celebrating and respecting our diversity, being inclusive and accountable.Ā
Throughout your time at Briggs, it is our goal to ensure that you feel safe, supported, and connected to our amazing community. We are proud of our community and are excited for you to join us.Ā
The Residential Life Team (RLT) is here to support you so please reach out if you need support. As a team, we're here to help you settle in and foster a vibrant residential life with events and activities.Ā
Briggs Hall is named after Geraldine Briggs AO (Aunty Gerry), a tireless campaigner seeking to improve the living conditions for Aboriginal people for human rights. She was an inspirational leader and an enduring role model, particularly for women across Victoria.Ā
She was the President and founding member of the National Aboriginal and Island Women's Co-operative and a founding member of the Uniting Council of Aboriginal Women. Our mascot is the emu, the dreaming totem of Aunty Gerry. Our colours are blue, green, and silver, like the emu.
