Just starting out and getting back into it, you're in the right place
Monaro Archers runs two beginners programs for new and returning archers, Introduction to Archery (I2A) and Retinue of Artemis (RA).
Each session costs $15/shooter, with the program averageing 10 consecutive/inconsecutive sessions throughout the year before new shooters graduate to the main line. The exact number of sessions will vary depending on the individual. However, after the third session, archers must register with ABA, who is our governing body/insurer.
Due to limitations on equipment, bookings must be made to guarantee a spot. For group bookings larger than 5 or a child under the age of 12, please contact the club directly through the email or Facebook.
Payments are made on the range before each session via EFTPOS only (no cash will be accepted).
Running from 8:45am most Sunday mornings, Intro to Archery (I2A) is an opportunity to try out archery and learn the basics before you commit to buying your own gear. Throughout the program you will be introduced to the basics of recurve shooting and range etiquette to start you out on your archery journey.
Equipment hire is covered by the I2A session cost, but you may bring your own gear if you wish. However if you have your own equipment you wish to use, please arrive no later than 8:40am as this will give the coaches time to inspect your equipment for suitability. Please be aware that the use of private equipment on the range is at the discretion of club officials.
The Retinue of Artemis (RA) is a women-only beginner archery program that runs from 1pm Sunday afternoon twice a month. Our goal with the RA program is to create a safe space for female archers to learn the sport with a smaller cohort and female coaches who can understand the barriers many women face in starting a new sport.
Through participating in the program, participants will get to develop their archery skills with a focus on;
Shoot a bow in a style of her choice,
Setting up the range, and
Running of the line.
Participation in the RA program will not exclude an individual from attending the Introduction to Archery program, and participants can choose to attend both sessions or just one.
Equipment hire is covered by the RA session cost, but you may bring your own gear if you wish. However if you have your own equipment you wish to use, please arrive no later than 12:40pm as this will give the coaches time to inspect your equipment for suitability. Please be aware that the use of private equipment on the range is at the discretion of club officials.
NOTE: This program is intended for women only. If you do not identify as a woman, please instead book into the Introduction to Archery program. If you do not identify as a woman and still book into this program, we reserve the right to refuse your booking on the day.
