Musical Audition Workshop with Mr. Holmes

• Choose an audition piece that showcases your range (avoid cornering yourself into auditioning for one role only)

• Choose music that his easy to read, has fewer sharps and flats in the key signature, clearly marked where to begin and end (print the accompaniment so Mrs. C can read it easily)

• Songs to avoid (Defying Gravity, anything by Sondheim unless you bring your own accompanist)

• Tell a story with your audition song. Rehearse without the music so you have purpose behind your singing (this is a monologue set to music, so bring your character to life)

• No Dance Call since it's not a show that requires a lot of skilled dance numbers

• Cold Reading will be a part of the audition process (take a little time to prepare, then show that you can engage with your scene partners)
