Volunteer Round - 1
Central Park Activities
This time, we will be implementing the following activities in Central Park ahead of the upcoming event.
Volunteers will be engaged in picking debris and stones.
Machines (Thromde JCBs and others as needed) will be deployed for light scraping and leveling of undulations (about a week in advance).
Note: Areas with grasses will not be disturbed.
Preparation for seeding and transplanting.
Tasks include light digging, raking, and leveling by volunteers.
Sowing of grass seeds.
Transplanting of grasses in identified areas. Once these works are complete in Central Park, the same model will be replicated in other parks.
Before deployment, a dedicated team will:
Inspect the site for lawn development feasibility.
Mark designated areas (using string, lime, or other materials) for machine and volunteer work.
Volunteers will then be grouped as follows:
Volunteers with digging tools.
Volunteers with cutting tools only.
Volunteers without tools.
Institutional or group-registered volunteers (kept together).
Additionally:
DoFPS Team will take the lead in Canopy Management.
Locally, ARDC PD will continue to lead as before.
Estimated requirement (for Central Park): Bermuda Grass (20KG/Acre) โ 900 KG.
Cost for 900 KG = Nu. 3.15 Million.
Adjusted plan: Procure only ~100 KG for Central Park, seeding in specific areas only.
Approximate expenditure: Nu. 400,000.
Central Park will use shade-tolerant varieties (not Bermuda).
Price comparison:
From Bhutan supplier: Nu. 4000/KG.
Direct from India (Gujarat): Nu. 3500/KG.
Important Note
The GMC Office will only facilitate in coordinating accommodations and transport for volunteers and participants. All costs or expenses shall be borne individually and will not be covered by the organizer.
