Mohawk Area School District is seeking experienced and qualified individuals for a position as a Transportation Coordinator. In this position, you are responsible for keeping the District's bus and van fleet in a constant state of operating excellence. Our ideal candidate has prior experience as a bus mechanic as well as basic office and computer skills.
Qualifications
Possess a two (2) year associates degree from an accredited vocational school or equivalent certification from the military or a legitimate apprenticeship program or equivalent experience as a bus, heavy equipment, or diesel mechanic; ability to read, write, type at a high school level.
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a school, industrial, military truck or bus mechanic shop.
Self-directed; ability to perform mechanics duties with minimal supervision.
Working knowledge of occupational safety hazards and regulations; ability to read, interpret and apply MSDA Sheets.
Ability to establish written documentation and then enter information into computerized record keeping systems.
Clerical skills including using email, calendars, electronic files and data entry.
Yearly certification of good health signed by a licensed physician.
Valid Pennsylvania CDL license with an “S” endorsement or ability to obtain and maintain one for driving when necessary.
Must hold a valid Pennsylvania State Inspection - Vehicle Class 7 or ability to obtain and maintain one for driving when necessary.
Must be able to pass Pennsylvania DOT physical / Drug and Alcohol Testing.
Proven aptitude in the use of hand tools necessary for this trade and to maintain or repair a variety of equipment.
Maintains a valid School Bus Instructor Certification or ability to obtain and maintain one.
Ability to work without direct supervision while directing the duties of the Bus Mechanics.
Possess basic knowledge of grounds keeping equipment and the maintenance and repair of equipment.
Previous management experiences a plus.

The Mohawk School Police Department is looking to hire qualified individuals to fill the job vacancy for a part-time School Police Officer position. School officers ensure a safe and secure environment for all Mohawk School District students, staff, and visitors and ensure the school district is prepared to effectively respond to all emergencies that might affect safety or security of students, staff and visitors.
Experience/Qualifications:
High school education or equivalent.
Associate Degree (Preferred.)
Act 120 certified or Graduate of the Pennsylvania State Police Academy.
Complete NASRO training.
Officer Duties and Responsibilities
Provide law enforcement and police services to the school, school grounds and areas adjacent to the school.
Investigate allegations of criminal incidents per Mohawk Police Department’s policies and procedures.
Enforce state and local laws as well as county ordinances if needed.
Make appropriate referrals to juvenile authorities or other governmental agencies.
Work to prevent juvenile delinquency through close contact and positive relationships with the students. In addition the Mohawk School Police shall develop crime prevention programs and conduct security inspections to deter criminal or delinquent activities.
Establish and maintain a close partnership with school administrators in order to provide for a safe school environment.
Assist school officials with their efforts to enforce Board of Education policies and procedures.
Ensure school administrator safety by being present during school searches, which may involve weapons, controlled dangerous substances or in such cases, that the student’s emotional state may present a risk to the administrator.
Assist school administrators in emergency crisis planning and building security matters. Provide a course of training for school personnel in handling crisis situations, which may arise within the Mohawk School District.

Mohawk Area School District is seeking experienced and qualified individuals for a position as a School Bus Driver and Van Driver. In these positions, you pick up and drop off children along predetermined routes and maintain a safe and friendly atmosphere for all riders in your care. Our ideal candidate has prior experience driving a school bus or other passenger service buses, a valid PA commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a P/S endorsement, and the patience and calm demeanor required when transporting a bus full of school children. Van Drivers do not need a CDL but Mohawk offers FREE CDL classes on site.
School Bus Driver and Van Driver Duties and Responsibilities
Pick up and drop off students along predetermined routes.
Practice safe driving skills in potentially inclement weather.
Perform basic vehicle maintenance.
Monitor student behavior and report unsafe or abusive behavior to school administrators.
Provide additional assistance to special needs students who may have difficulty boarding or riding the bus.
School Bus Driver Requirements and Qualifications
Valid PA CDL with P/S endorsement.
Prior experience as a school bus driver or driving other passenger buses a plus.

INCENTIVES
The district shall pay 100% of the C.D.L. License fee.
Paid time off.
Any eligible CDL (P/S endorsement) bus driver employed by the District shall receive an incentive payment for attendance at work as assigned for one (1) full school year. Drivers utilizing 2 or fewer sick, personal, or unpaid days during the school year will receive the following stipend:
0 days utilized $1,000.00
1 day utilized $800.00
2 days utilized $600.00
Drivers will no “At-Fault” accidents in 1 (one) school year will receive a stipend payment in the amount of one thousand dollars ($1,000). The eligible participant has no at-fault accidents for the entire yearly performance period.
The CDL Driver Referral Incentive will award any staff member who refers a CDL (P/S endorsement) driver applicant who is hired as a bus driver. It will pay $200 for referring an applicant with a CDL and a P/S endorsement at the time of hire and $100 for referring an applicant who has only a CDL at the time of hire. This program may be suspended at anytime and without notice by the District if personnel levels exceed expected staffing needs.

Mohawk Area School District is seeking dedicated and compassionate Substitute Paraprofessionals/Personal Care Assistants to join our team. As a Substitute Paraprofessional/Personal Care Assistant, you will play an important role in providing our students with the academic, behavioral, and daily living support they need. Under the supervision of a lead teacher, you will implement directed academic and behavioral plans through individualized attention inside the classroom or in small groups. You will also assist the teacher in a variety of classroom needs, as well as helping students with daily living skills needed for participation in school.
Paraprofessional Duties and Responsibilities
Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials.
Monitor student work and supervise curriculum-based testing.
Review material with students one-on-one or in small groups.
Ensure students follow school and class rules.
Supervise students in class, between classes, and during lunch and recess.
Other duties as assigned by Principal and Coordinator of Special Education.
Paraprofessional Requirements and Qualifications
High school degree or equivalent; degree in education preferred.
2+ years of experience as a paraprofessional, teaching assistant, or similar position.
Experience working with elementary-aged students.

Mohawk Area School District is seeking experienced and qualified individuals for a position as a Substitute School Nurse. In this position, you will provide primary health and emergency care to students, promote wellness and serve as a resource for health concerns in the school setting. Our ideal candidate has prior experience in pediatric and/or community, a valid RN/LPN and the patience and calm demeanor required when providing medical services to school children.
Substitute School Nurse Duties and Responsibilities
Administers medications and treatments as ordered.
Provides care for student and staff illness and accidents.
Administers care based on individual health care plans and individual emergency care plans.
Serves as liaison between the home and the school regarding student health concerns.
Documents all encounters in the Electronic Health Record.
Follows communicable disease control procedures and informs administration and/or parents regarding school exclusion and readmission.
Substitute School Nurse Requirements and Qualifications
Hold current PA State license as a Registered Nurse, or Licensed Practical Nurse.
Current certification in CPR.
Excellent communication skills.
Knowledge of current practices for common childhood illnesses and chronic diseases such as asthma management, diabetes, insulin pen and pumps, seizure management.
Ability to perform skilled nursing care such as catheterization, suctioning, gastrostomy tube feedings, insulin administration, insulin pump skills and nebulizer treatments.
Computer skills.
Baccalaureate degree in nursing or related field is a plus.
