DISTRICT TAX REBATE PROGRAM

In response to the hardships caused by the pandemic and ongoing economic challenges, the Mohawk Area School District Board of Directors implemented a property tax rebate program on June 14, 2022, to provide financial relief to residents on fixed incomes. 

This program supports senior citizens, widows/widowers, and permanently disabled residents, and complements the existing Pennsylvania Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program by offering an additional district rebate of up to $325. 

Since its launch, the program has assisted more than 250 residents, returning over $52,000 in property taxes for the 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 tax years. Recognizing its impact, the Board approved a fourth year of the program on March 10, 2026, extending rebates to cover 2025 property taxes. 

To assist residents with the application process, the district offers open office hours every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at 385 Mohawk School Road, New Castle.
