DISTRICT TAX REBATE PROGRAM

In response to the pandemic's hardships and ongoing economic challenges, the Mohawk Area School District Board aimed to provide financial relief to residents with fixed incomes. On June 14, 2022, they implemented a property tax rebate program for senior citizens, widows/widowers, and permanently disabled residents. This program complements the existing PA Property Tax Program, offering an additional rebate of up to $325.

Since its launch in 2022, the program has benefited over 150 residents, returning more than $30,000 in property taxes paid for 2021 and 2022. The Board extended the program for a third year on May 14, 2024, covering 2023 property taxes.

To assist with applications, the district offers open office hours every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at 385 Mohawk School Road, New Castle. For questions, call (724) 667-7782, ext. 1301 or 1310.
