The Anatomic Pathology discipline under the Pathology Service, Ministry of Health Malaysia, is a vital part of the national healthcare system. There are 24 anatomic pathology centres in Malaysia. We provide accurate, timely, and comprehensive pathology services that support patient care and public health across the country. Our work is central to diagnosing and monitoring diseases, including cancer, infections, and other medical conditions.
We offer a full range of services, including histopathology, cytopathology, clinical autopsy services, and specialised diagnostic techniques such as immunohistochemistry and molecular testing. These services are delivered by a dedicated team of pathologists, laboratory scientists, and technical staff with deep expertise and a strong commitment to diagnostic excellence.
The MOH Anatomic Pathology Committees appointed by the Head of Anatomic Pathology Services play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of anatomic pathology services. Each committee focuses on a key area, including technical standards, workforce management, procurement, quality assurance, research, sub-speciality training, health and safety, and workload distribution. By working collaboratively, these committees help enhance efficiency, maintain high service quality, and support advancements in pathology. Their efforts complement the overall functioning of the organisation, ensuring continuous improvement and excellence in the field.
As part of the Ministry of Health’s integrated healthcare network, we support hospitals and medical institutions throughout Malaysia. We work closely with clinicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure that our diagnostic findings contribute to accurate diagnoses, informed treatment plans, and improved patient outcomes.
Our laboratories operate under strict quality assurance protocols aligned with national and international standards. Many of our medical laboratories have been accredited by Standards Malaysia, complying with MS ISO15189. We continuously invest in professional development, technological innovation, and service improvement to ensure the highest levels of reliability and accuracy.
Beyond diagnostics, we play an active role in education, training, and research, helping to shape the next generation of pathology professionals and contributing to the advancement of medical knowledge in Malaysia.
Looking ahead, we are committed to strengthening our services through digital transformation, enhanced data integration, and continuous collaboration, supporting the Ministry of Health Malaysia’s mission to deliver high-quality, accessible healthcare for all Malaysians.
