Akron Children's Hospital Medical Center of Akron - Psychiatric Intake Response Center (PIRC)

The Psychiatric Intake Response Center (PIRC) answers questions from family members or other adults associated with children or adolescents experiencing emotional and behavioral health problems. In addition, PIRC staff conducts preliminary risk assessments for children and adolescents in crisis who are considered to be high risk. PIRC is available 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week and can be reached at 330-543-7472 or toll-free 1-866-443-7472

Crisis Text Line

Crisis Text Line is a free 24/7 emotional support help line that can be used anywhere in the country. Text 4HOPE to 741741 for help.

National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI)

NAMI Summit County is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with mental illness and their families through support, education and advocacy. NAMI has many programs including support groups, classes for families who can learn how to cope with issues when a loved one has mental illness, and awareness in the community.

Mental Health America

Mental Health America has screening tools, information for college students, workplace wellness, person-centered language, and recovery and support on their website www.mentalhealthamerica.net.

Mental Health.gov

MentalHealth.gov helps you learn the basics about mental health. The site provides basic information about disorders, what signs to look for, how to start a conversation about mental health, and how to get treatment coverage.
