Yew Tee Primary was established to meet the needs of the growing Yew Tee community. The school opened its doors to 214 children from the neighbourhood on 2 January 2000 and was temporarily sited at Unity Primary while the school building was being constructed.


The school moved to its present location at 10 Choa Chu Kang on 10 February 2001. It was officially declared open by former Minister of Transport and Member of Parliament for Hong Kah GRC, Mr Yeo Cheow Tong, on 20 July 2002.


Yew Tee Primary celebrated its 20^th Anniversary in 2019. The event was graced by Mr Alex Yam, Mayor of North West District, MP for Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC, Chairman of Marsiling-Yew Tee Town Council.
