First Day of School

First Day of School, 02 January 2026 (Friday)

1. You are to report to School by 7:30 am and assemble at the S.P.A.C.E. (Library) in your Yishun Secondary School PE attire or half uniform. You can wear your primary school uniform if you are waiting for appeal result.

2. There is no need to bring your textbooks on the first day of school as there will be an orientation programme organised for you.

3. Please take note of the grooming requirements of the school.

Grooming requirements for all students

• No coloured hair

• No tattoo or piercing

• Trimmed nails

• Predominantly white shoes and YSS socks

Girls

• Neat hairstyle

• Only 1 pair of small-sized earrings

Boys

• Proper haircut

• No ear decoration

The 3-day Secondary 1 Orientation programme has been planned to help our new Secondary 1 Yishunites make the transition to secondary school life as seamlessly as possible. The fun and purposeful activities facilitated by the YSS Prefects will allow our Secondary 1 students to learn more about our school and establish meaningful relationships with their teachers and peers.

• The key highlights of the programme are as follows:

• Students can wear half uniform or PE attire for these 3 days of orientation and they are reminded to bring their water bottles with them.

• Normal lessons will commence on 07 Jan 2026, Wednesday.

• On 09 Jan 2026, Friday there will be a CCA Open House and Sec 1 Parent Engagement session from 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm. More information will be provided via Parents Gateway (PG) by 29 Dec 2025. 

Your child/ward’s 2025 class timetable will be put on the school website @ https://www.yishunsec.moe.edu.sg/students/timetable  by 30 December 2025.
