Strengths: The students have done an excellent job in various aspect besides proposing the final solution, such as:
Ground research and obtaining user feedback
Revamping and retesting for improvement with multiplate test runs
Making a few prototype to adapt to the changes
Evaluation Grid Checklist & Evaluation of Improved Prototypes
Well annotated infographics visuals to illustrate the points for the prototypes
Keeping a recording of the experiment to show results
Well-done to the rHain 2o :] students!
If the product is to be manufactured as a real product in the real market, it is necessary for users to understand how to use and maintain the product properly.
Some idea examples are:
Advice on how to secure the product safely: Eg. Do’s and Don’ts to anticipate for wrong placements causing toppling when item is full with water)
A way to observe the timing to change the filter change for good maintenance habit
Advice on which parts need maintenance and an advisable duration when to do so.
Can reference IKEA’s website on DIY instructions pdf (can download from Ikea which are mainly Pictorial and Infographics – simple and suitable for illiterate people as well. Example 1, example 2
Having spare parts will make the product more marketable as a valuable set.
Can sample commercially sold Robot vacuum cleaner or water filtered jugs in the market.
Problems anticipated and things to explore in future?
Exploring the Materials: Being in line with the topic “Towards a Sustainable Livable City”, one area to explore is if the materials can be made from sustainable/ upcycled material eventually.
Exploring the Shape: If the product is ergonomic and smoother in its corners, it may be less likely to have corners that may collect bacteria. This may require support from a more experienced product designer to explore further.
